Minimally Invasive Dentistry (MID)

In recent years there has been a paradigm shift in how dental cavity treatment is approached.  Previously, bacteria causing dental cavities were surgically removed (drilled).  Now a days, the dental field views caries as a bacterial infection.  The goal is to treat the tooth before you need to repair it.

People have different caries risk levels depending on their oral bacteria flora, nutrition, and medical status.  A caries management risk assessment test, along with specialized devices and saliva tests are used to determine the caries risk level of patients.  Early detection is the key for success.

With use of different procedures and minimally invasive procedures for different risk levels, we can arrest, remineralize caries, avoid transmission, preserve and significantly decrease chances of future cavity.  This translate to less drilling, less pain, less cost and much improved health.

Mouth Body Connection

The body’s health and mouth’s health are closely related.  It has been shown that there is a strong correlation between numerous medical conditions and oral bacteria.  Minimally invasive dentistry reduces the harmful bacterial count in the mouth thus promotes overall health.  Dr. Toubia has been performing conservative and less invasive dentistry for over twenty years and is very knowledgeable about the field.  He uses the latest scientifically proven biomemtric techniques to achieve the goals of minimally invasive dentistry.
